Every victory the Vietnamese revolution has reaped can be attributed to the effort, dynamism and creativeness of the people and the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the party chief said.

Representatives of mass organizations voiced their confidence that the Party will lead the country into a new period of development.

A grand meeting also took place in Hanoi Monday to mark the anniversary.

Among those present at the event were Manh, President Nguyen Minh Triet, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong and Fatherland Front Central Committee President Huynh Dam.

Addressing the ceremony, Hanoi’s Party Committee Secretary Pham Quang Nghi reviewed the development of the Party over the past 79 years.

Nghi said with Hanoi’s role as the heart of the nation, the city’s Party Committee and residents have always tried their utmost to successfully complete political tasks and achieve socio-economic targets.

The Hanoi Party leader said 2009 will be a significant year for the city in successfully implementing the resolutions of the 10th Party Congress and the 14th Municipal Party Congress.

This will also be the year that Hanoi focuses on completing key tasks in preparation for the celebration of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi in 2010, Nghi said.
