Mr Trong acknowledged the effective cooperation between the Vietnam State Audit and the Audit Chamber of the Russian Federation in recent times, contributing to the fine development of the two countries’ relations.

“The Party, State and people of Vietnam are grateful for the great assistance offered by the former Soviet Union and now Russia to the Vietnamese cause of national construction and defence,” said Mr Trong.

He briefed his guest on the two parliaments’ preparations for his upcoming visit to Russia and affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly will do its utmost to constantly foster friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Russia.

For his part, Mr Stepashin said that his visit will help concretise cooperation agreements between the two countries, especially in the context of the current global economic crisis.

He praised the Vietnamese audit sector’s rapid development and vowed to help train Vietnamese auditors.

He conveyed top Russian leaders’ regards to Mr Trong and said that they expect to welcome the chief legislator in Moscow soon.
