Ninety-six individuals and organisations were presented with awards in Hanoi on March 21 in recognition of their contributions to the development of the community.

Among the “For Community Development” Gold Cup winners, there were three senior officials (Truong Quang Duoc, former vice chairman of the National Assembly; Vu Hoang Ha, Party Secretary of the south-central province of Binh Dinh; and Dumitri Olaru, Romanian ambassador to Vietnam), two Buddhist dignitaries (Most Venerables Thich Thanh Tu and Thich Giac Toan), female martial arts trainer Ho Hoa Hue city and People’s Artist Tra Giang.

The cup winners have earned total revenues of approximately VND50,000 billion, contributed nearly VND6,000 billion to the State budget, built more than 3,000 charity houses and cared for nearly 100 heroic Vietnamese mothers.

At the ceremony, 82 outstanding individual businesses were also honoured with the “Talented Executive” Gold Cup.

Addressing the ceremony, Professor Vu Van Hien, a member of the Party Central Committee and Director General of Radio the Voice of Vietnam, said the awards promote the altruistic tradition of Vietnamese people in their private and social lives.

He called on the cup winners and other businesses to make further contributions to the development of the community so as to build a prosperous nation during the integration process.
