According to AFP, the Czech Republic Foreign Ministry of March 2 said that this country resumed the grant of visa to Vietnamese citizen.

Czech Republic decided to suspend visa grant to Vietnamese citizens in November 2008 because of accusation about violations related to visa grant procedures. It was said that only people who paid US$2,700 instead of the official fee of $240 could get the visa.

The spokeswoman of the Czech Republic Foreign Ministry, Zuzana Opletalova, said the Czech Republic Embassy in Hanoi has put into use a new computer system to prevent violations.

According to Opletalova, competent agencies will re-evaluate this system after two months of operation and “in case violations are discovered, this system will have to stop running immediately or will be replaced by a new one”.
