First contract signed after Japan resumes ODA

| Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) signed Monday a consulting contract concerning an expressway from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai Province, the first since Japan resumed official development assistance to Vietnam. |
| VEC signed the construction consultant and supervision contract with Japanese contractor Nippon Koei and the Southern Transport Consulting Joint-stock Company, which will supervise construction on a 24 km, US$18 million package of the 50 km road from HCMCâs District 9 to Dong Naiâs Dau Giay District. Construction is planned to start in the second quarter and be completed after 45 months. Japan declared on February 23 that it would resume official development assistance (ODA) to Vietnam after it was suspended late last year due to a corruption scandal. Source: VNA |
