As of March 2009, the government will have monthly meetings with video-conferencing, with the participation of the Chair-people of the People’s Committees of all provinces and cities. Attendants will also use computers to present their reports and to discuss in the meeting room.

The March cabinet meeting will take place from March 30 to April 1. The Chair-people of provincial People’s Committee will join the social and economic discussion, which is scheduled for one day.

The Chairman of the Government Office, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, said that applying IT in the government’s regular meetings shows the government’s determination to develop e-government.

“Through video conferencing, local officials can raise their opinions and report to the government and the Prime Minister their concerned issues. The Prime Minister can directly give instruction to them at the meeting,” Phuc said.

Technical facilities to serve the first video-conferencing meeting of the government are ready.

Previously, the Prime Minister issued an instruction requesting ministries and agencies to organize national conferences in the form of video conferencing and they have to report to the Prime Minister if they want to organize a normal conference.

In February 2007, after his took office, PM Nguyen Tan Dung had an online dialogue with the people, which were highly appreciated by the local and international public opinions.
