Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung instructed Ninh Binh, Quang Binh and Thua Thien-Hue city provinces to help businesses boost production in an online conference Friday.

“[Authorities] must work closely with businesses to remove obstacles,” he said at the meeting which also saw nine government ministers taking part. It was aimed at assessing socioeconomic development in the three provinces in the first quarter.

The Prime Minister also told the provinces to ensure investments are speedily disbursed and social welfare policies are implemented.

He and the ministers answered the provincial leaders’ questions relating to development projects in their areas.

He directed the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Planning and Investment to advance funds to Ninh Binh to complete certain projects in time for the 1,000th anniversary of Hanoi in 2010.

The Prime Minister approved Quang Binh Province’s request to transfer Hon La Port to the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group to facilitate the transport of cement, clinker and other goods to the south. He also gave approval to use VND100 billion (US$5.6 million) from public funds for the project.

In relation to Quang Binh’s master plan for the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Dung instructed the Ministry of Construction to work with the province to find consultants.

In response to Thua Thien-Hue’s suggestions about a development plan for Tam Giang lagoon, Dung said he would wait for the Government Office to get the opinions of ministries and other agencies.

The leaders of the three provinces reported their first-quarter socioeconomic achievements at the conference. Ninh Binh has posted 18 percent economic growth, followed by Quang Binh with 11 percent and Thua Thien-Hue with 10 percent.
