For the occasion, President Triet presented the institute with the Gold Star Order of the State.

He also urged the institute – the army and country’s leading medical centre – to continue prioritising research and development, stressing that a significant medical breakthrough could help millions of patients.

He also asked the institute to speed up cooperation with military and other hospitals in carrying out research and implementing their results to help the nation’s sick and injured.

He articulated that the institute should improve training, to attain international-standard scientific, technological and educational levels, while always aspiring to raise the quality of medical treatment and ethics.

According to the Institute’s Director, Associate Professor Major-General Nguyen Tien Binh, the institute is one of the first medical and pharmaceutical colleges in the country to provide postgraduate training.

It has provided the army and country nearly 60,000 medical workers, including five People’s teachers, six People’s doctors and more than 100 Emeritus doctors.

The institute has also carried out many State-level medical and pharmaceutical research projects of strategic significance to the development of the medical sector and health care in general.
