The United Nation Development Program (UNDP) will provide US$1.15 million to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the impacts of land policy on rural development under a two-year project announced Monday.

The project will also make policy recommendations designed to promote sustainable economic development in rural areas.

“The project will produce a comprehensive discussion paper on the issue of land in Vietnam which will help guide decision-making at the national and local level,” Setsuko Yamazaki, UNDP country director in Vietnam, said.

“This policy paper will set out a long-term strategic vision for land policy reform and how such reform efforts will contribute to continued growth in rural Vietnam,” she said.
