According to Hien, the week-long visit is aimed at exchanging experiences between Vietnamese and Russian colleagues and counterparts, as well as information regarding budget forecasting and public finance auditing.

On March 10, the delegation was received by Ivan Melnikov, Vice Chairman of State Duma and First Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Russian Federation Communist Party.

Melkinov spoke of his visit to Vietnam in December 2008, and expressed his admiration at the country’s socio-economic successes.

He also said that relations between the countries reflects the traditional rapport and efficiency in economic cooperation, with the Vietnam-Russia oil and gas joint venture (VietsovPetro) as a prime example of this success.

Hien briefed his host on Vietnam’s socio-economic situation, and its solutions to the current global economic crisis.

The Vietnamese delegation then held a working session with the State Duma’s Committee for Finance and Budget, led by Vice Chairman Gennady Kulik.

The Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to work with the Russian Federation Council (Upper House) and the Accounts Chamber on March 11, and to visit St. Petersburg on March 12 and 13.
