Vietnam’s embassy in Italy officially inaugurate its consulate office in the city of Turin on March 20.

Vietnam’s Ambassador to Italy Nguyen Van Nam, representatives of the Piemonte region and Turin, the Italy-Vietnam commercial division, and Vietnamese expatriates in the country attended the inaugural ceremony.

At the event, Ambassador Nam handed over a decision by the Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Gia Khiem to appoint Sandra Scagliotti as Vietnam’s honour consul for the area of Turin, Piemonte and Liguria.

Sandra Scagliotti, over the last several years, been an active participant in activities to introduce Vietnamese culture and history to the Italian people, and has made significant contributions to strengthening relations between the two countries.

The opening of the new consulate office in Turin is a strong step towards promoting Italian-Vietnamese friendship and cooperation. As scheduled, Vietnam plans to open another consulate in Venice in the near future.
