LookAtVietnam – Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai asked the coal sector to conserve and exploit coal in a sustainable manner to ensure national energy security, during a working session with Khe Cham Coal Company in Quang Ninh province on April 11.

Every production unit must place a high priority on labour safety, said Mr Hai.

He lauded the coal sector’s profitable operation despite economic difficulties last year, saying the sector met its production targets and generated steady jobs for its employees.

He asked the sector to increase the pace of capital construction projects, improve technology, update management skills, and pay special attention to labour safety.

He recalled the methanol explosion at a Kha Cham coal mine last December that killed 10 miners and injured 19 others and said that the sector should learn from the accident to better protect the workers.

Every production unit must place a high priority on labour safety, said Mr Hai.

The deputy PM asked the sector to upgrade production lines and safety equipment to raise operational efficiency and safeguard the lives of its workers.

Mr Hai visited the families who lost relatives in the methanol explosion and asked Khe Cham Coal Company to provide appropriate social welfare services for the bereaved.
