Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao said that he and his assistants would only attend ground-breaking, inauguration ceremonies and anniversaries if they were really necessary. In other cases, they will send letters of congratulations.

Hanoi Chairman Nguyen The Thao visited a construction site.

The chairman also emphasised the reduction of meetings. He said that the Hanoi People’s Committee would only organise monthly meetings in the last week to assess issues within the committee’s responsibility.

“The municipal People’s Committee chairman will consider and decide when it is necessary to organise extraordinary meetings,” Thao said.

The chairman also said they would reduce the presentation of special reports at the periodic meetings of Hanoi’s chairman and vice chairmen.

Thao said that from now on, Hanoi will limit businesses trips at home and abroad by vice chairmen and members of the Hanoi People’s Committee and officials of departments. After necessary trips, officials must report on trip results.
