The exhibition Viet Nam-China - Friendly and Peaceful Border provides citizens with a clearer picture of the importance of the completion of the demarcation and planting of the land border markers between the two countries, says Nguyen Truong Giang, head of the information dissemination and document department of the foreign ministry.

Photos and items showcased at the exhibition highlight surveying challenges and the eight-year negotiation process started once the treaty on the Viet Nam-China land border was signed in 1999 until the marker planting was completed in December, 2008.

International legal documents defining the current border between Viet Nam and China are on display, along with photos of a number of markers planted from Mong Cai border city in the northern province of Quang Ninh of Viet Nam to the Laos-China border in line with a treaty signed on June 26, 1887 between the French government (in the name of Viet Nam) and the Qing court (for China).

The exhibition at 45 Trang Tien is scheduled to last through April 13.
