The HCM City Bar sent a letter yesterday to the chairman of the Hoang Sa District People’s Committee asserting that Vietnam has inviolable legal and historical sovereignty over both the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa Islands under international public law.

Such sovereignty is underscored by many historical materials and documents that are locally and internationally recognized, it added.

The letter said all the members of the Bar deeply appreciated what the Da Nang administration did to prove that Hoang Sa is an inseparable part of Vietnam.

It was referring to a recent meeting of people who used to live and work in Hoang Sa. Such acts testify to the patriotism of not only the people of Hoang Sa but also of all Vietnamese, the letter quoted them as saying.

The Da Nang administration is also collecting historical evidence linked with Hoang Sa for the publication of a book proving that the island belongs to Vietnam.

From the 2009-10 year, the city Department of Education and Training will include the history of Hoang Sa to the school curriculum to raise students’ awareness of Hoang Sa as an inseparable part of the country.
