NA leader hails village patriarchs’ role in development

VietNamNet Bridge - National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong has praised the elderly’s role in the socio-economic and cultural development in Mu Cang Chai district, northern mountainous Yen Bai province.

She made the remark while receiving 44 village patriarchs from Mu Cang Chai district, northern mountainous Yen Bai province, in Hanoi on April 29.

Party Secretary and Chairman of the Mu Cang Chai People’s Committee Thao A Sang said that the district’s annual economic growth reaches an average of more than 10 percent bringing great improvement in local people’s living conditions, contributing to national defence and security.

Village patriarchs have also held a meeting, setting out goals for local development.

The Vice Chairwoman said she hoped village patriarchs, who have prestige in the community, continue to encourage their families and villagers to abide by the Party’s policies and State’s laws, thus contributing to building the prosperous, civilized and happy homeland.
