Hien told reporters in his new capacity after the CIRTEF’s 16 th General Assembly closed in Hanoi on April 19 that the organisation would focus on solidarity and mutual assistance in its programme of action for common interest while boosting south-north and south-south cooperation among members.

He also unveiled other spotlight targets, including stronger cooperation in producing and broadcasting TV and radio programmes of issues of global concerns such as financial crisis, poverty reduction and environmental protection as well as continuing with series on women’s fight for gender equality.

“CIRTEF will intensify training cooperation among members so as to produce more and more quality programmes,” said the new chief.

As the VOV boss, Hien highlighted Vietnam’s successful hosting of the meeting, quoting guests’ comments that it was one of the most successful meetings that CIRTEF has ever experienced.

He added that the event has helped increase Vietnam’s prestige in the French-speaking community in general and in the CIRTEF in particular.

It was an opportunity for Vietnam to promote the country’s images to the international community and offer the national press circles with bilateral and multilateral cooperation opportunities, he concluded.

The next General Assembly of the council is scheduled to take place in France in 2011
