LookAtVietnam — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will attend the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) 2009 to be held in Hainan, China at the invitation of the Chinese government and the BFA organising board.

According to the Foreign Ministry, during his April 17-21 trip, the PM will also visit Guangdong province, Hong Kong and Macau.

The theme of Boao Forum 2009 is “Asia: Making Efforts to Overcome Crisis”. From April 17-19, attendants will focus discussions on the current financial and economic crisis, measures to cope with the impacts of crisis and strengthening international economic cooperation, especially among participating countries.

Vietnam has three times sent representatives to this forum, but this will be the first time a Vietnamese PM has participated in the event. Vietnam expects to have valuable exchanges with other countries, particularly China, the largest and most dynamic economy in the region, about experience and international cooperation measures to overcome crisis.

Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau are Chinese territories near Vietnam which closely cooperate with Vietnam in the fields of economics, trade and tourism.

On the occasion of the Vietnamese prime minister visiting these areas, many documents will be signed to boost cooperation between Vietnam and the above territories.
