LookAtVietnam – Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Dung on May 4 criticised the Human Rights Watch (HRW) report that describes Vietnam as being not objective and untruthful.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Dung.

Dung told foreign journalists in reply to questions about the May 4 report on human rights in Vietnam, that the organisation has repeatedly released inaccurate information about the situation in the Southeast Asian country.

“The Vietnamese State has always made its people the focus of all socio-economic policies and constantly ensures and promotes the exercising of human rights,” emphasised Dung.

He pointed out that the Vietnamese constitution demands that its citizens have equality in a wide range of domains from politics to economics, culture, social benefits, the rights to petition and claim and to have access to work, education and healthcare. Their rights to equality are ensured regardless of their gender, race or religion. The Vietnamese State has also been working hard to create and introduce the necessary mechanisms to make human rights a reality.

He concluded by saying that the country has made major progress in ensuring human rights in recent times, which is fundamental not only to the renewal process, but also to ensuring a prosperous and contented society.
