Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Mistuo Sakaba presented the Order of Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbons to two former officials in Hanoi on Friday.

Vu Mao received the award for significant contributions made to boosting exchanges between parliament officials and agencies of the two countries when he was chairman of the Vietnam National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee (2002-2007) and chief of the NA Office (1987-2002).

Meanwhile, former deputy minister of Culture and Information (1994-1998) and current vice chairman cum general secretary of the Vietnam-Japan Cultural

Exchange Association (from 1992 till present), Vu Khac Lien, was honored for his contributions to strengthening bilateral cultural exchange by holding and co-organizing many cultural activities and festivals at a time when Vietnam-Japan relations were not as close as at present.
