The 20th session of the National Assembly Standing Committee opens in Hanoi today to report on State budget plans and the application of socio-economic tasks.

Minister of Planning and Investment Vo Hong Phuc will report on the implementations of the socioeconomic tasks for 2008 and the first months of 2009, and the use of capital sources from the State budget for preventing the economic crisis and ensuring social security.

Minister of Finance Vu Van Ninh will present reports about the application of budget plans for 2008 and part of 2009, the final reports for the 2007 budget plan, along with income tax exemptions, reductions and delays.

The standing committee will consider giving more judgment power to district People’s Courts, and discuss proposed amendments of the laws concerning infrastructure construction investment and a plan to receive and take presidency of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).
