Bauxite exploitation, poverty alleviation and unemployment this year as a result of the economic slow-down will top the agenda when the month-long National Assembly session starts next Wednesday.

This was announced Thursday during the NA Standing Committee meeting held to set the upcoming session’s agenda.

Nguyen Phu Trong, chairman of the NA, requested the government to prepare a special report on the controversial bauxite exploitation in the Central Highlands, the newswire VietNamNet reported.

Other topics that will be discussed at the fifth session of the twelfth NA include state budget spending in 2008, socio-economic plans, and budget outlays.

The government will also present reports on the issuance of government bonds, deferments and exemptions under the Personal Income Tax Law, and PetroVietnam’s investment plan in Venezuela to seek guidance and advice from the parliament.

Participants at the session will vote the last time on amendments to laws that deal with infrastructure investment, as well as for the formulation of laws about cinematography, criminal records, medical treatment and examination, and urban planning.
