LookAtVietnam – The Viet Nam-US Dialogue Group on Agent Orange agreed to speed up the implementation of its plans and projects at a recent meeting in Washington DC,

He said that both sides had worked out plans of action for the five prioritised areas identified.

The group discussed ways of cleaning up the environment, issues related to people with disabilities and human health, and partnership and policies regarding the public and private sectors.

Solving issues

“If these plans are carried out effectively, they will help solve pending issues related to the US spraying of Agent Orange, or dioxin, over Viet Nam,” Xuan said.

Xuan said more US officials and political, social and humanitarian activists attended this meeting than the previous three.

Walter Isaacson, CEO and president of the Aspen Institute, who headed the US delegation, said that both the US and Viet Nam had outlined what they needed to do during the meeting.

Launched in 2007, the Viet Nam-US Dialogue Group on Agent Orange and Dioxin is comprised of Vietnamese and US policymakers, scientists and leaders of non-governmental organisations and businesses.
