Vietnam pledges to aid Iraq during reconstruction; Vietnam and Singapore discuss politics and economy; Politburo Member Truong Tan Sang visits Vietnam Journalists’ Association; Activities to hold 84th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day

The fifth regular Political Consultative Conference between foreign ministries of Vietnam and Singapore was held in Hanoi on June 18.

At the conference, held under the co-chairmanship of Vietnamese Deputy Minister Dao Viet Trung and the Singaporean Foreign Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Peter Ho, both sides expressed their pleasures at the rapid and strong development of friendship and comprehensive co-operation between the two countries, especially in politics, economy, trade, investment, education, culture and tourism.

They discussed measures to boost relations between the two countries in future, including preparations for reciprocal high-level visits in the second half of this year.

Aside from bilateral issues, the two sides also exchanged views on regional and international matters of mutual concern, especially those under the framework of ASEAN, including Vietnam ’s assumption of the ASEAN presidency in 2010.

They agreed to continue to bolster co-operation between the two foreign ministries and plan to hold their first exchange in Hanoi later this year.

Politburo Member Truong Tan Sang visits Vietnam Journalists’ Association

Truong Tan Sang, Politburo Member and Permanent Member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, paid working visit to the Vietnam Journalists’ Association on June 19.

Dinh The Huynh, Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association reported the activities and achievements recorded by the Vietnam Journalists’ Association in recent years, especially the implementation of the Secretariat’s Directive on further improving the position, role, quality and performance of the journalists’ association at all levels, the organisation of the National Journalism Prize, regularly opening journalism training classes for so many members of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association and well holding foreign relation activities.

On behalf of the Politburo and the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, Mr. Truong Tan Sang congratulated the journalists nationwide on the occasion of the 84th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 – June 21, 2009).

He emphasised that the Party had always affirmed that the press is an extremely important field of the Party’s ideology, especially during the revolutionary periods of turning-point significance.

The Party, State and people have recognised, praised and highly valued the great contributions made by the Vietnamese press in the cause of national construction and defence, he said.

On this occasion, Mr. Truong Tan Sang presented the picture (the portrait of President Ho Chi Minh) to the Vietnam Journalists’ Association.

Activities to hold 84th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day

The Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Vietnam Journalists’ Association has launched the seventh Press Prize ‘For the cause of great national unity’ on June 19.

The same day, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan visited the Government Web Portal on the occasion of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

Also on this occasion, many provinces, cities, journalists’ associations and agencies held meetings and exchanges with journalists to congratulate them.
