Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Do Quy Doan Sunday said regulatory measures were necessary to enhance local media performance.

Doan said Vietnamese media has already improved greatly in its content, professionalism and facilities.

However, he said the rapid development has resulted in some weaknesses including inaccuracy in reporting; repetition of feature stories by different sources causing readers to lose interest; and a reliance on reporting events rather than offering more informative, analytical articles.
