He acknowledged that since the Doi Moi (reform) process – a series of economic reforms geared toward establishing a market-based economy – was implemented by the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1986, the press has become a driving force behind the country’s rapid development.

During the integration process, the press has helped strengthen friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and other nations around the world, said the message. It has not only promoted and encouraged exemplary role models but also actively battled corruption and waste, while refuting hostile forces’ slanderous allegations, Prime Minister Dung said. The press has helped maintain socio-political stability and increased the country’s position in the international arena, he said in the note.

The press is an important information channel that helps the government improve its performance, said Dung.

He spoke highly of the press’s strong growth in recent times and said the integration process required the media to have a firm conviction to obtain, analyze and disseminate information while acquiring new knowledge and skills.

The Party and State always create the best possible conditions for the press to fulfill its duties and stand firm in the integration process, said Dung.
