Turkey’s friendship and cooperation, especially in terms of economics and trade, are very important to Vietnam, said Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem over the weekend.

Khiem, who is also a Deputy Prime Minister, made the statement while having talks and meetings with Turkish leaders during his visit to the country.

He held talks with his Turkish counterpart Bulent Arinc, paid a courtesy visit to vice speaker of the parliament Cenap Gulpinar and met with the Istanbul deputy mayor as well as with representatives from Turkish businesses operating in Vietnam.

Khiem and his Turkish hosts discussed measures to boost the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, especially in economics and trade. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

The Turkish leaders praised Vietnam’s economic reforms as well as its repositioning on the world stage over the last two decades.

Khiem and his Turkish counterpart Bulent Arinc vowed to instruct their ministries and relevant agencies to effectively implement the agreements reached at the recent fourth session of the Vietnam -Turkey inter-government committee.
