A vice chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee and three department directors will participate in a question and answer session with the local People’s Council on July 8. This is the first time city officials will have directly answered questions of voters.

Construction projects on roads and environmental pollution are the biggest concerns of HCM City’s voters.

HCM City People’s Council’s Chairwoman Pham Phuong Thao said voters are very interested in the following issues: construction projects on roads, environmental pollution and solutions, cooking hygiene and safety and measures to combat diseases.

After the opening session of the HCM City People’s Council conference, the directors of the Health Department, Natural Resources and Environment Department and the Transportation Department and the city’s permanent vice chairman will be questioned by voters.

The office of the HCM City People’s Committee asked the above officials to carefully prepare for the question and answer session.

At the upcoming session of the HCM City People’s Council, deputies will listen to a report on the city’s social and economic situation in the first half of 2009, discuss the key missions for the second half and approve some People’s Committee reports.

On July 9, deputies will elect one more vice chairman, a permanent member of the HCM City People’s Committee and the chief of the People’s Council’s Economic and Budget Division.

The question and answer session will be aired live on HCM City Television (HTV).
