| President Nguyen Minh Triet met with leaders of the Democratic Peopleâs Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Namibia on July 14 on the sidelines of the 15th Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Egypt. |
| In his meeting with the president of the Presidium of the Supreme Peopleâs Assembly of the DPRK, Kim Yong Nam, President Triet expressed hopes that the joint ventures established by Vietnamese businesses in the DPRK would contribute to deepening bilateral ties of friendship and cooperation. He also proposed that the two countries coordinate to jointly organize celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2010. President Kim Yong Nam stressed the fact that the DPRK and Vietnam have a special time-honored relationship fostered by the close relationship between late presidents Ho Chi Minh and Kim Il Sung, which have also served as a solid foundation for continued growth in bilateral ties. Meeting with Namibian Prime Minister Nahas Angula, Triet affirmed Vietnam has always attached importance to its traditional friendship with African countries including Namibia. The two countries have their respective potentials and many similarities that can supplement each other for mutual development, Triet said, adding Vietnam is ready to share its experiences with Namibia in agriculture, fisheries, health care and education. Nahas Angula said the two countries need to build on their fine political relationship to boost economic cooperation by actively implementing bilateral agreements. He asked for Vietnamâs help in rice cultivation and aquaculture, adding that Namibia also welcomes Vietnamese businesses into the country for business and investment. Triet attended the opening ceremony of the 15th Non-Aligned Movement Summit Wednesday in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The summit closes today. Source: VNA |
