President Nguyen Minh Triet will lead a Vietnamese delegation to attend the 15th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, from July 15-16, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting aims to evaluate the international situation and common issues among member countries of the bloc.

Delegates will discuss measures for dealing with negative impacts of the economic crisis and global challenges such as climatic change and cooking security.

The meeting will also set action plans on political, economic and social cooperation, as well as examine and pass proposals given at the Non-Aligned Movement Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in La Havana, Cuba, in late April.

According to Le Hoai Trung, chief of the ministry’s Department of International Organizations, the Vietnamese delegates aim to promote a diplomatic policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and multilateralism.
