The Vietnamese and Thai prime ministers renewed their determination to further deepen the two countries bilateral relations and effectively expand their wide-ranging cooperation in the coming time.

During their talks in Hanoi Friday, PMs Nguyen Tan Dung and Abhisit Vejjajiva agreed to broaden and further develop cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, investment, culture, education and training, healthcare, science and technology, and tourism.

They vowed to encourage bilateral support in agriculture, aquaculture, human resources development, and transport areas where both countries possess large untapped potential.

The two government leaders reached a consensus on appraising existing cooperative mechanisms in order to better their operational effectiveness.

While agreeing to assign relevant ministries and sectors on both sides to study renewing the organization of a joint cabinet meeting, the two PMs also gave the nod to hold a meeting of the Joint Sub-committee on trade cooperation in the near future.

At their talks, the two leaders discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern, affirming to continue to cooperate closely with ASEAN – for the purpose of successfully building a strong ASEAN Community – a goal that would have regional and global benefits.

On the same day, Thai Prime Minister Vejjajiva met with Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh in Hanoi. Vejjajiva praised Vietnam, saying the country is an important strategic partner in such areas as politics, economics, trade, investment, security, tourism, transport, culture, education and sports.

Manh expressed his belief that the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries will be continuously consolidated on a bilateral basis as well as within the framework of ASEAN.
