The HCM City People’s Council on July 9 elected Hua Ngoc Thuan, former chief of HCM City’s southern zone management board, as HCM City People’s Committee Vice Chairman.

Thuan, 52, will replace the current vice chairman Nguyen Huu Tin, who will become Party Secretary of District 5.

Deputies voted Dang Cong Luan, former vice chief of the HCM City Party Committee’s Organisation Division, as Director of the Home Affairs Department, replacing Chau Minh Ty, who will retire.

Deputies also elected some members of the People’s Council, including a permanent member, Nguyen Thanh Chin, the chief of the council’s Economic-Budget Department Pham Van Dong and the chief of the Social-Cultural Department Tran Thi Ngoc Anh.
