Vietnam will receive US$350 million in loans from the World Bank to help spur economic development and improve municipal infrastructure projects, the Washington-based lender said in a statement Friday.

Vietnam will receive $190 million to operate a credit facility to support development funds, which aims to improve the funds’ ability to leverage private sector financing for municipal infrastructure while also strengthening their financial and technical capability. The project also aims to boost the management of social and environmental safeguards.

Another $160 million will fund the Tan Hoa-Lo Gom Canal improvement project in Ho Chi Minh City, the statement said.
