A ground breaking ceremony for Viet Nam’s new Parliament House was organised in Ha Noi on August 6.

If all goes according to plan, the complex will be commissioned in the third quarter of 2011. Speaking at the ceremony, National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Kien said he hoped the building would be of high quality and totally fit in with the surrounding political and historical environment, which goes back 1000 years.

Dang Kim So, director of the management department at the National Assembly Office said the building would provide accommodation for the National Assembly and its committees and offices, including a conference centre and reception area.
