LookAtVietnam - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung returned to Vietnam on September 20, ending his visits to Kazakhstan, Denmark and Hungary.

During his first visits to Kazakhstan, the Kingdom of Denmark and the Republic of Hungary as head of the Vietnamese government, Mr Dung was warmly and cordially received by the leaders of these countries, which reflects their strong traditional relationship as well as Vietnam’s increasing status and prestige.

The prime ministers of Kazakhstan, Denmark and Hungary highly appreciated Vietnam’s successful efforts to curb the negative impact of the global financial crisis. They all pledged to boost cooperation with Vietnam in their countries’ strong fields.

Kazakh PM Karim Massimov affirmed that according to World Bank statistics, Vietnam is one of the fast developing countries and has been able to maintain its high growth even in the context of the global financial meltdown. He and PM Dung agreed on cooperation in many fields, with priority given to energy and fuel, not only between Vietnam and Kazakhstan but also through third country. Mr Massimov added that both countries support bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, tourism and education.

The Central Asian country is well-known for its great reserves of natural resources such as petroleum, gold, coal, chrome, and tin.

Danish PM Lars Lokke Rasmussen pledged that his country will assist Vietnam in the development of environment-friendly power technology such as wind, biological and solar energy. Demark will also prioritize its ODA for Vietnam to help it cope with climate change, he said.

Vietnamese Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment Pham Khoi Nguyen said Denmark has agreed to provide Vietnam with an initial US$40 million to help the country implement a project to deal with climate change and rising sea levels.

PM Dung’s visit to Hungary coincided with the two countries’ preparations to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties. The visit has made bilateral relations between Vietnam and Hungary more effective, practical and on par with their strong political bonds.

Tran Van Man, Chairman of Vietnam’s Can Tho Municipal People’s Committee, expressed his approval as the governments of Vietnam and Hungary signed a financial agreement on providing the city with a preferential credit package worth 60 million euros for building a 500-bed cancer hospital.

Businesses from Vietnam and Hungary continue to build on the traditional educational cooperation between the countries in the context of international integration. A good example of this is a seven-million-euro contract between Vietnam’s Quoc Anh company and Hungary’s Szolnok vocational school to train guest workers.

A wide range of cooperative documents, contracts and business agreements signed during PM Dung’s visits to Kazakhstan, Denmark and Hungary pave the way for new cooperation between Vietnam and these countries in the spirit of equality and mutual benefit and for the sake of common development.

Political commitments between Vietnamese, Kazakh, Danish and Hungarian prime ministers have reaffirmed the prestige of Vietnam in Europe and in the world.
