LookAtVietnam – A get-together was held in Hanoi on October 12 to mark the 79th anniversary of the Party’s Mass Mobilisation Day (October 15).

When addressing the event, President Nguyen Minh Triet noted that thanks to mass mobilisation, the Vietnamese nation has gained many victories, especially during the wars of resistance in the 20th century. He confirmed that mass mobilisation was a key factor in defending the nation.

The President said that those involved in the work must grasp the people’s mood and aspirations to encourage, share and help them overcome their difficulties, while at the same time making recommendations to the Party and State to ensure the people’s rights and interests.

They must have a pure soul to set a bright example in exemplary role model movements and serve in the people’s interests, said Mr Triet.

He said that mass mobilisation is a common task for the whole of society and it is necessary to encourage people from all social sections to take part in this important task.

Ha Thi Khiet, Head of the Party’s Mass Mobilisation Board, confirmed that over the past 79 years, many socio-political and professional organisations have been established, attracting a large number of participants. Many campaigns and movements have received active response from millions of people, bringing in practical benefits in economics, culture, social affairs, security, national defence and diplomacy.

She said that by realising late President Ho Chi Minh’s thought on mass mobilisation, these organisations have reformed themselves with a focus on mobilising the masses at grassroots level to meet the country’s requirements for development during each period.

Former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, former State Vice President Truong My Hoa and former President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Pham The Duyet shared the view that mass mobilisation is a task for the entire Party, State, the political system, people and the army. Without mass mobilisation, Vietnamese people could not have the foundation to continue building socialism in the 21st century, bringing happiness to the nation and elevating Vietnam’s position in the global arena.
