Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem on October 19 chaired a ceremony to launch the logo and website of the ASEAN Year 2010 in Vietnam.

The logo was designed by Vietnamese painter Ngo Anh Co, based on a three-propeller pin wheel, a simple Vietnamese toy. He explained that his aim was to show the dynamism and development of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

This logo will be used in all meetings and activities related to ASEAN held in Vietnam in 2010.

At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem said Vietnam’s ASEAN presidency in 2010 shows the role and position of a renovated Vietnam as an active and responsible member of ASEAN.

The introduction of the logo and the launch of the website for ASEAN Year 2010 kicks off the run up to Vietnam’s presidential year of ASEAN 2010.

The website of the ASEAN Year 2010 can be seen at http://asean2010.vn.

Khiem said the website will be the major source of information for events of ASEAN Year 2010.

Vietnam will officially undertake the chairmanship of the ASEAN from January 1, 2010.
