Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands on Tuesday signed a joint financing agreement to implement a four-year program to upgrade Vietnam’s inspections regime.

The US$13.2 million program, titled “Strengthening the comprehensive capacity of the inspectorate system,” includes 10 sub-projects involving select ministries and provinces.

The Vietnamese government will contribute about $1.4 million to the program. Sweden will provide the lion’s share of the remaining funds with $8.24 million.

Rolf Bergman, the Sweden Ambassador in Vietnam, said the funding reinforces the three countries’ commitment to assist Vietnam in fighting corruption and promoting public administration reforms.
