VietNamNet Bridge – Chief Government Inspector Tran Van Truyen claims that Australian newspaper The Age’s articles about the suspicious case of bribery in Vietnam have not yet been verified.

The Age recently published an investigative article saying that Australia’s Securency company bribed a Vietnamese firm (the Hanoi-based CFTD Technology Development Company headed by General Director Luong Ngoc Anh) with millions of US dollars to win the contract to print polymer banknotes for Vietnam.

Speaking with VietNamNet on the sidelines of the National Assembly autumn session, chief inspector Truyen noted that the Prime Minister has asked the police to investigate. “The Government Inspectorate has not received any information from the investigators so I can’t comment,” Truyen said.

According to the Chief Government Inspector, information from The Age is for reference only. Vietnam needs to conduct its own investigation to find evidence before making any announcement.

Vice-Chief Government Inspector Mai Quoc Binh also confirmed that the Government Inspectorate already investigated the polymer banknote printing case and sent recommendations to the police for further investigation.
