Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and her family visited the central highlands town of Da Lat on Sunday.

While they were there, the Danish royals attended the opening ceremony of a flower showroom by the Rung Hoa Joint Stock Company, one of the benefactors of a Danish government-sponsored project to improve commercial competitiveness.

They also toured the Dan Kia-Suoi Vang Water Plant, which was built with Danish help in 1982 to supply Da Lat with clean water.

Queen Margrethe and her family had already been to Hanoi, Hue city and Ho Chi Minh City as part of the first ever Danish state visit to Vietnam from November 2 to 9.

Made at the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, their visit aims “to build long-lasting partnerships for future Vietnamese and Danish generations”, the Danish embassy says in a statement on its website.

Denmark and Vietnam established diplomatic relations in 1971.
