Deputies of the HCM City People’s Committee have elected Le Minh Tri, Chairman of District 1, as the Vice Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee.

Tri will replace Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, who will be the chief of the HCM City Party Committee’s Organisation Department.

Deputies also elected Vo Van Luan, chief of the office of the HCM City People’s Committee, as a member of the city People’s Committee for the 2004-2011 term.

After listening to the report of the HCM City People’s Committee regarding the city’s social and economic situation 2009, deputies asked authorities to make clear matters related to environmental pollution, such as the waste and waste water treatment technology at the Da Phuoc dumping ground and problems relating to traffic jams. They also request the HCM City People’s Committee explain clearly about the concept of “restructuring the local economy”.

They approved six to be supervised by the People’s Council next year, including: the implementation of the shift of economic structure in the city’s agricultural sector, the construction pace of key projects funded by the state budget, the legal foundation for education and training, the building of civilized lifestyles, judicial reforms and administrative reform.

Today, December 10, the directors of the HCM City Departments of Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, Planning and Investment, Education and Training will be queried by deputies, besides a representative of the HCM City People’s Committee.
