Vietnamese and US agencies on Wednesday signed an agreement on implementing several medical and environmental clean-up projects dealing with damage caused by Agent Orange.

The money, including $3 million approved in 2007 and the remaining this year, aims at detoxifying Agent Orange hotspots and offering medical aid to the communities near the contaminated spots.

The US has disbursed funds to several projects that provide health, education and social services to disabled people in Da Nang, and also helped surveys on the situation of the disabled in the area.

Lai Minh Hien, a MoNRE senior official, said the US in recent years has paid better attention to cooperating with Vietnam to fix war consequences, including those caused by Agent Orange.
