Though the two sides have not set a date, the Russian ambassador told VietNamNet that 2010 is the right time to organize an official visit to Vietnam by the Russian President.

Vietnam and Russia will celebrate their 60th year of diplomatic relations on January 30. “In the past 60 years, Vietnam has experienced many difficult periods, from wars to rebuild the country and develop economics,” the Ambassador commented. “But this is the sustainable foundation of time that the two sides have ceaselessly promoted the strategic ties.”

Russia is the first strategic partner of Vietnam. The Ambassador said that the most outstanding feature in the Vietnam-Russia relations is its comprehensiveness.

On January 27, a photo exhibition about Vietnam-Russia relations opened in Hanoi to celebrate the 60th anniversary of bilateral relations. The event is co-organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Russian Embassy in Vietnam and the Ho Chi Minh Museum.
