The National Assembly Standing Committee is gathering at its 30th monthly meeting next Monday to scrutinise the fight against poverty across the country.

The meeting will review the implementation of the second phase of Programme 135 on poverty reduction.

The meeting will review the implementation of the second phase of Programme 135 (2006-10) on poverty reduction, and the management and co-ordination of national target programmes and other projects to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty in disadvantaged communes.

The 8-day meeting will also seek feedback to the report on the enforcement of laws and policies on school establishment, education investment and quality of higher education.

The committee is expected to voice up on some law-making projects, including the amended Trade Union Law, Law on Civil Servants, Law on Customer Protection and amended Inspection Law.

Other legal documents, such as Law on Criminal Procedure, Law on Food Safety, amended laws on Credit Organisations and the State Bank of Viet Nam will be discussed.

The committee will also review the allocation of the increased tax collection for the State Budget in 2009, the investment of the Ha Noi-HCM City high-speed railway project, and the resolution on natural resources tax.
