Hotels in Vietnam have been seriously affected because many international visitors have canceled their trips to Vietnam.
Last week Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung led a delegation to the Netherlands. According to Dat Viet newspaper, Mr. Hung was accompanied by Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat, Minister of Construction Nguyen Hong Quan, Vice chairman of the Government Office Van Trong Ly, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Thai Lai, Deputy Minister of Transportation Nguyen Hong Truong, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Cuong and many high-ranking officials.
The delegation could not return to Vietnam on April 18 as scheduled. On April 20, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Bui Ba Bong had to chair the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Bird Flu in Hanoi on behalf of Minister Cao Duc Phat.
Meanwhile, the chief of the Construction Ministry’s office, Le Van Toi, revealed that Minister Nguyen Hong Quan had to continue his work by email and phone.
Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Xuan Ha was registered to attend the Asian-European Finance Ministerial meeting in Spain from April 17-18, but he is stuck in Frankfurt. Ha spoke with reporters by phone, saying he was very anxious because many tasks are waiting for him back at his office in Vietnam.
Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen The Phuong is also waiting in the UK for a flight to return to Vietnam.
Vietnam Airlines sent two flights to Russia on April 20 and three flights to France, Germany and Russia on April 21.
