The 31st session of the NA Standing Committee opened this morning, May 6 to prepare for the 7th National Assembly meeting, also scheduled for this month.

The Committee will give their opinions on a Government report on the socio-economic tasks and the State budget in 2009 and in the first few months of 2010.

It will also discuss the new legislation for 2011, voters’ proposals and complaints collected after the 6th NA session, as well as a Government report on planning for Hanoi with a vision for 2030 and 2050, key national projects and preparations for the seventh session of the 12th NA legislature.

The Committee will consider amendments to a number of laws, such as the Law on the State Bank of Vietnam, the Credit Organisation Law, the Administrative Denunciation Law, the Maritime Law and the Law on Public Investment.

The government assigned seven cabinet members to present its reports at the session, which will close on May 13.
