Palestinian President Abbas to visit Vietnam next week

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will pay an official visit to Vietnam from May 24-26 at the invitation of President Nguyen Minh Triet, announced the Foreign Ministry on May 20.
Vietnam supports peaceful settlement of Israel-Palestine conflict
Mahmoud Abbas is also President of the Palestinian National Authority and Chair of the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO).
President Mahmoud Abbas will meet with President Nguyen Minh Triet, Party Secretary General Nong Duc Manh, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and National Assembly Chair Nguyen Phu Trong.
During the visit, Vietnam and Palestine will sign new bilateral agreements. Previously, the two signed an agreement on economic, trade, cultural and sci-tech cooperation in 1990 and the Trade Agreement in 1994.
Vietnam and Palestine established bilateral diplomatic relations in 1968. Vietnam recognized the Palestinian State in 1988.
