A citizen who exposes corruption is now eligible for up to 10 million dong in reward money in addition to the usual certificate of merit, according to a regulation issued by HCM City authorities on June 22.

When information and evidence is verified as correct, whistle-blowers will receive their certificates of merit and bonus from the local Council for Emulation and Rewards. In addition, they will be presented with an additional bonus of one to ten million dong or even more within 20 days of verification depending on the scale of corruption cases.

The size of the reward will be decided by the city chairman or the chief of the municipal anti-corruption steering board.

The new regulations go into effect on July 1. They also stipulate measures to protect those who denounce corruption.
