Bridge – Authorities of the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on July 29 handed over to the Foreign Ministry a set of documents related to Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa archipelago (Paracel Islands).

The set of documents comprises 10 pages, including six in French and four in Vietnamese, issued by the Construction Office of the government of South Vietnam before 1975.

These documents mention issues related to the Paracel Islands in the 1897-1970 period, including repairs to the Hoang Sa Meteorological Service.

Before the handover, the documents had been kept at the Thua Thien-Hue Records and Archive Division. The province presented a certificate of merit to the division head Nguyen Tat Thang for his efforts in finding and preserving the documents.

It is the third time that Thua Thien-Hue province has passed to the Ministry materials related to Vietnam’s sovereignty rights over the Hoang Sa.
