Vietnam has opened its first consulate in Japan in the central city of Nagoya.

The chairman of directors’ board of the Centrair International Airport Joint Stock Company, Yukihisa Hirano was appointed honorary consul of the consulate in the September this year.

Addressing the consulate’s opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Nguyen Phu Binh said the appointment of Hirano as the honorary consul in Nagoya is highly significant for the cooperation relations between two nations, as Nagoya is an economic hub in central Japan .

On his part, Yukihisa Hirano pledged to do his best to enhance Vietnam-Japan exchanges, especially as Vietnam ’s national airline, Vietnam Airlines has opened direct services from the Centrair Airport to the capital city of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

At present, Vietnam has three diplomatic representative agencies in Japan , including the Embassy in the capital city of Tokyo and the consulates general in the central city of Osaka and the southern city of Fukuoka.
